Beth and Alex Nord lost their husband/father, Joe Nord, unexpectedly March 4th, 2023. They are struggling to figure out life without him. Please help if you can. Assistance would help Beth and Alex with the costs of laying Joe to rest as well as addressing the unmanageable medical costs. Laying Joe to rest will finally allow him to be pain-free, something he has not experienced in the past 20 years.
Below please find Beth and Alex's memorials that were read on the night Joe donated his organs this past Wednesday, March 8th. This was something that was important to Joe and if you knew him you knew that he had a heart of gold.
My dad was my biggest role model from the day I was born to today. He taught me about some of my biggest hobbies like music and video games. He was my best friend and I know other people feel this way too. He was a teddy bear always there for anyone who needed him. Whenever I would leave my parents' house he would tell me to call him when I got home and if I didn't he would come over just to make sure I was alright. He is the dad I aspire to be to my own children when I have them.
Joe never understood how wonderful he was. He did not accept compliments well which he received often because he was so giving to everyone. He would never hesitate to help when and where it was needed...no matter what.
Joe was afraid of one thing only - the dark. Specifically the dark woods. Alex and I were on our way up north to a cabin when the car broke down. Joe drove 2 hours to stay with the car and wait for the tow truck that was 4 hours away in the dark woods in 100 degree heat with mobs of Minnesota mosquitoes. Just to bring us his car so we could continue our vacation.
No matter who you were or whether he even liked you, he would be there to help.
Joe's physical pain over the past 20 years would make the strongest of us collapse. Even when it hurt so bad he would come home and sit and cry after. All because he wanted to help others at his job, in our family, and even complete strangers.
Now Joe will get to continue this life of giving by sharing these gifts of life with others. He and I spoke of this often over the past 26 years, and he always responded without hesitation.
This is Joe.
He was so important to so many, but never believed that he was. If he were here, he would tell you that the most important thing in this world is to help others, so we ask that you carry out his gift in his absence.
Please find an opportunity in the next few days to help someone else. Do something small to brighten someone's day - it doesn't have to be grandiose. Any small act of kindness will do. Bring Joe's light and love to this darkness.
