Support for the Noffsingers’ Medical Emergency

Early last year, Matt was diagnosed with drug-resistant epilepsy. Since then, he and his family have been fighting an uphill battle—both medically and financially. With the help of a lawyer, they have been pursuing disability benefits, but the process has been long and exhausting. Due to daily focal seizures and weekly grand mal seizures, Matt has been unable to work for the past two years. Stress is one of his biggest seizure triggers, making everyday life even more challenging. On December 20th, Matt experienced a series of breakthrough seizures and had to be transported to OSU in Columbus, where he spent two days in the epilepsy monitoring unit. Because the family lives nearly two hours away, Morgan had to stay in a hotel nearby so she could be close to him during this critical time. In January, Matt will need to travel to Cleveland for a four-hour specialized neurological test, which is the next critical step toward brain surgery that doctors hope will finally help control—or stop—his seizures altogether. This trip will bring additional travel costs, time away from home, and emotional strain, but it represents a much-needed step toward hope and long-term relief.

Throughout all of this, Morgan was quietly enduring excruciating pain of her own—still showing up for her family and continuing to work, because that is simply who she is. On Christmas Eve, Morgan suddenly lost the ability to walk or use her left arm. By Christmas Day, her symptoms had worsened to the point that she took herself to the ER in Lima. There, doctors discovered a bulging disc at the C5/6 level, putting severe pressure on her spinal cord, and she was told she urgently needed surgery. Morgan has degenerative disc disease and previously underwent a spinal fusion in October of 2023, making this diagnosis even more devastating. Morgan is an incredibly hardworking and selfless person. She is the owner of Messy Bun Mamas Laundry and Housekeeping, and she also works full-time as a domestic violence advocate and support specialist at a local shelter in Shelby County. Unfortunately, her full-time position does not offer disability pay or income protection of any kind. Following surgery, Morgan faces a long and difficult recovery, with the very real possibility that she may be unable to return to work for a long time—or at all. Matt and Morgan are also parents to three young children, ages 11, 5, and 3, two of whom have birthdays coming up very soon. While they should be focusing on healing and being present for their children, they are instead facing mounting medical bills, travel costs, lost income, and everyday household expenses.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps relieve stress and gives this family breathing room during one of the hardest seasons of their lives. Thank you. If you are able to donate, we are deeply grateful. If you’re unable to give financially, sharing this fundraiser is just as meaningful. Please keep the Noffsingers in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your kindness, love, and support.
