Support for the Mullaney Family
Donation protected
Dear Friend & Family of Tom & Rebecca,
On Oct 10, 2023 Rebecca Mullaney suffered a cardiac arrest while out shopping at a thrift store. She received several rounds of chest compressions from a good samaritan who witnessed the event, further CPR from EMS, and was treated in ICU at St Anthony's Medical Center. After a critical first 24 hours during which she received therapeutic hypothermia and mechanical ventilation, she began to recover, received a defibrillator implant and was discharged from the hospital on 10/18.
We are so grateful she survived. We are so grateful to all the humans who helped care for Rebecca and those who helped care for her family while she was hospitalized. Needless to say Rebecca and Tom are in need of continued support not only with medical bills and replacing lost income while she was unable to work, but also with childcare, transportation needs, help around the house as Tom, a public school teacher of Integrated Arts at Jeffco Open School, transitions back to work from his leave at the beginning of November.
Rebecca's life before this event was extremely active caring for her two sons, Benjamin 8 years & Brendan 4 years, teaching piano lessons, and being involved in her community. Rebecca is home with her family but requiring supplemental oxygen. She will need to begin rehab soon but has not been cleared to drive.
We hope to help the family by providing some resources so that she can slowly ease into new, different daily routines as she comes to terms with the physical, neurological and emotional challenges that surviving CPR can present.
Thanks for your help.
