Honoring the Life and Legacy of Our Beloved Mother

A Sudden and Heartbreaking Loss

It is with heavy hearts that the Moody family announces the passing of our mother, Sandra Moody Pluta, on March 4th, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. For the past year, Mom’s health had remained remarkably steady. We held onto hope as her bimonthly MRIs showed no new growth, including a clear scan as recently as November.

However, our world was turned upside down on January 27th when a new, aggressive tumor was discovered—one that had grown with devastating speed in just a few short weeks.

The Fight for More Time

Mom remained a fighter until the very end. She immediately sought specialized care at the Moffitt Cancer Center, holding onto the hope of new treatment options. Tragically, her health declined far faster than any of us could have anticipated. Within days, she lost her ability to walk and was admitted to the hospital before she could even attend her first appointment at Moffitt.

While we understood the long-term reality of her diagnosis, none of us were prepared for her to be taken from us this quickly. We did our best to prepare for the road ahead, but the speed of her decline has left us with unexpected expenses that we are struggling to cover.
