Please consider helping Catie and Andrew Scott with their financial hardship resulting from a costly IVF process, to the 4 month early arrival of their twin daughters, Madison Kay & Parker Cate.  They are facing an incredible amount of financial burden with mounting medical bills, daily expenses of running to the hospital and maintaining their home.  The unfortunate fact is Catie receives no maternity benefits while away from work so she has no income coming in to help with the bills.  Andrew continues to work every day but has used up all his paid vacation time, so any time he spends with the girls during work hours in unpaid as well.  Their priority is to be with the girls through this long and difficult journey and with this Go Fund Me campaign we hope to ease some of the financial stress no matter how big or small.

Their journey began years ago as they tried unsuccessfully to conceive a child on their own.  After multiple failed attempts they reached out for help from a fertility doctor.  The doctor gave them at most a 3% chance of ever having children through a natural process, devastating news to this young couple.  This news was not going to deter them, they wanted children and to be a family no matter what hurdles they faced.  Understanding insurance would not cover any of the cost associated with fertility treatments they knew they had to try.   Catie and Andrew decided to start at the beginning of the fertility process using medications to assist in a pregnancy, then on to an IUI procedure, 6 months passed with no successful results.  Each monthly cycle ran into thousands of dollars and their credit cards were beginning to get out of control.  By this time the fertility doctor suggested Catie and Andrew consider IVF as the option with the highest percentage for a positive pregnancy.  They were able to secure a $20,000 loan through the fertility clinic, enough to cover an egg retrieval and 2 transfer attempts.  In May of 2019 the process began with successful fertilized eggs and a successful transfer.  The best news in the world came in June 2019 when they were told two embryos had implanted and they were going to be parents of TWINS in February 2020!!

Fast forward to November 1, 2019.  She went to the hospital as a precaution from the doctor due to cramping from the night before, what happened next would change their lives forever.  At just 22 weeks and 6 days gestation Catie was in labor.  The doctors noticed she was 4cm dilated and would need to be admitted quickly as delivery was imminent.  Scared, upset, mad the emotions were all over the place but mostly their concern for their precious little girls.  What are the odds they could survive at this early age??  Who knew, so many unanswered questions?

On Catie’s birthday, November 3rd, 2019 our little “Mighty Madison” was born at 4:55 a.m. weighing 1lb 09oz at 23 weeks and 1 day gestation.  As the NICU doctors worked urgently and meticulously to get a breathing tube in her she was quickly rushed off to the NICU which will now be her home for the next 4 months.

What happened next is purely a miracle.  Catie’s body stopped the progression of labor as the second baby was not ready to make her appearance.  With the help of the doctors and nurses they were able to keep Catie from going into labor for another 13 days!  On Saturday, November 16th, almost 2 weeks after Madison’s arrival, Parker Cate was born at 7:20 p.m. weighing 1lb 9oz.  As with Madison, Parker was immediately taken to the NICU where she will stay with her sister until they are healthy enough to come home.  The 2 extra weeks Parker was able to stay in utero was a complete miracle and blessing, as she was so much stronger and bigger than her sister.  Thank you God for that blessing.  Catie spent a total of 18 days in the hospital during this entire process.

The first born, Madison was surprisingly stable until Friday, November 8th when it was discovered she had a perforated bowel and would need immediate surgery as her little body was filled with infection.  A minimal procedure was done to stabilize her enough to get a few more weeks growth so they could go in to make the surgical repair.  On Tuesday, November 26th the doctors could wait no longer and a major 4 hour surgery was completed to repair the bowel in 3 places.  Truly a miracle the surgeon said this little tiny girl was strong enough to endure the long surgery.  She is our Mighty Madison!  Not only did she have to suffer with the bowel issue, she also contracted a skin infection on the right side of her face which has caused her skin to die.  A plastic surgeon is involved and has guaranteed surgery and skin grafting will be needed to repair that damage as she grows.

In summary you can read this family is facing many, many challenges in the years to come.  We are asking for any financial contribution you can make to this precious family.  When the girls were first placed in the NICU the nurses said you can refer to these girls as your Million Dollar babies as that will be the least amount it will cost for each girl’s care.  Their journey to become parents has been far from normal but worth every bit of pain, worry, sorrow and financial burden.  The look in their eyes as they stare over the incubators with Madison and Parker snuggled safely inside is so heartwarming and precious.  I know God has wonderful things in store for this family, especially for Madison and Parker.
