David McBride Malone
July 24, 1977 – October 6, 2025

David McBride “Mac” Malone, lovingly known to many as “Ghost Board Dave,” 48, passed away on October 6, 2025, in Provo, Utah. He was born on July 24, 1977, in Torrance, California.

On September 28th, 2025, our friend and loved one David McBride Malone suffered a sudden heart attack at his home in Provo, Utah. He was found unresponsive, given CPR to restart his heart, and rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered he had suffered a significant anoxic brain injury due to lack of oxygen. For several days, Dave remained in a medically induced coma as the medical team worked tirelessly to reduce the swelling in his brain and give him every possible chance at recovery. His wife Sarah never left his side. Friends, family, and loved ones filled Dave’s hospital room and surrounded him with prayer, music, even his beloved Denver Bronco football games on tv, while hoping for a miracle.

On October 6th, recent CT scans revealed that the swelling in Dave’s brain had not improved and had begun to affect his brain stem. The doctors explained that life would no longer be sustainable, and the family was faced with the unimaginable decision to let him go peacefully. True to who he was, even in his final moments, Dave found a way to give. Dave was able to help save and heal the lives of several others through organ donation after he passed. This one final act of kindness perfectly reflected the selfless, loving person he was.

Dave was known for his huge heart and his positive energy. He was the kind of person who could turn strangers into friends, who’d be the first to offer help, and who could somehow find sunshine even on the hard days. His friends and family often called him “Positive Energy Dave” because he radiated good vibes everywhere he went. He loved the ocean, skating, camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his family. He was a natural storyteller and could make anyone laugh. He was the kind of dad who got on the floor to play, kicked the soccer ball with them, and who always made sure they knew they were loved. He shared his life with his soulmate, Sarah, the love of his life. Everyone who knew them could see their connection. They were perfectly matched. Together, they raised a beautiful blended family: Genevieve, Nathan, Mackenzie, and Michael.

Dave’s journey in this life may have ended, but his spirit and energy will never fade. He left behind a family who loves him deeply and a community that will never forget him. Now, Sarah faces the difficult road ahead, emotionally, financially, and as a mother navigating life after losing her best friend. This GoFundMe has been set up to help ease the financial burden during this unimaginable time. Funds raised will go directly to Sarah, to help with funeral expenses, household costs, and giving her the space to grieve and heal without the added stress of bills.

If you’re able, please consider sharing this GoFundMe to help support Sarah and the kids as they navigate life without Dave. Every share, prayer, and donation — no matter how small — truly makes a difference.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Isom Malone; his children Genevieve Isom, Nathan Isom Dean, Mackenzie Malone, and Michael James Malone; his father Michael Dale Malone and mother Janis Adele Young Malone; brothers Andrei Fenner and Patrick Malone (his twin); and his sister Paige Cashen.

Dave also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and in-laws who love him dearly.

Dave’s life was one of love, laughter, and light — and even in death, he gave life to others. We’ll miss him more than words can say, but his legacy will continue in every person he helped and every life he touched.

Dave’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18th at 10:00 a.m. at 4300 North Canyon Road, Provo, Utah 84604. All who knew and loved him are welcome to join as we celebrate his life and share memories together. If you have any questions about the service, please feel free to call or text Heather at (310) [phone redacted].
