Anyone who knew Julie knew she lived life to the fullest. There are not enough words to describe what she meant to us all. I took the time to go through the comments of many of you and put together a list you used to describe her.
Beautiful, Strong, Best Friend, Supportive, Light, Her Smile lit up a room, Safe Space, Contagious Laughter, Selfless, Gorgeous, Radiated Joy, Sunlight, Loved BIG, Adventurous, Ride or Die, Soulmate, Fun, Kind, Superwoman, Incredible Mum(UK), Rock Solid, Generous, Funny, The Real Deal, Jesus Lover, Cheerleader, Good Listener, Brave, Partner in Crime. Loved Unconditionally, Kick Butt Woman, Selfless, Compassionate, Daughter, Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, Never Forgotten
I think you all said it the best.

Please join us for as we Celebrate the life of our Julie.

Julie touched lives of many everywhere she went. She also has a lot of family in the UK. In the coming months the family hopes to take her back to some of these places to celebrate her life there.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating in one of two ways:

1. Travel expenses and the continued needs of the Lelek family as they navigate the difficult days and months ahead.

2. Julie wanted to spread the word about her type of rare cancer. You can donate in honor of her.

Thank you again for all your kindness and support.

Past updates

I wanted to send you an update. I was finally able to make it to Colorado to spend some time with Nate, Julie and their family. Many of the extended family members, as well as Nate and Julie, have expressed how grateful they are for all of you. The way you have rallied around them through prayers, cards, meals, and financial support has carried them during this time. One sweet brother in law mentioned it has been a testament to the way Julie and Nate have loved on the people in their lives. I think we can all agree that they are good people.

Julie has been moved to in home hospice and Nate is now her full time caregiver. Currently he does have support from Julie’s sisters and check-ins from nurses.

The tumor from the cancer continues to grow and the doctors have said it is no longer responding to treatment. Her pain and symptoms are being managed with medications. Julie for the most part is bed-bound and has good days and not so good days.

As the days move forward we know that Julie’s time is in the Lord’s hands. While this doesn’t take away the sadness we feel there is still joy and peace in the midst of this storm.

Again thank you for everything.

UPDATE: 8/27
some people have had questions. The family has given me permission to update here.

Julie is in a hospice facility where they monitor and provide pain relief. Nate is staying there with her. She will remain there at this time. Doctors have given a timeline but once someone is in the care of hospice this timeline can fluctuate. We are trusting that Julie is in Gods hands and He know the timeline. If something changes in her care we will update you.

The family is incredibly grateful for the love and support you have shown them. Please continue to pray for Nate, Julie, the kids and the extended family during this time.

——Original Post——-
If you are seeing this you are someone who is important to the Lelek Family. It’s hard to give this update on Julie’s cancer journey.

As many of you know in January of 2024 Julie was diagnosed with Uterine leiomyosarcoma (uLMS), a rare and aggressive cancer of the uterus. Early on, Julie underwent a couple of surgeries to remove tumors. It became clear that they were going to need the support of specialists. They moved to Colorado to be closer to family and to receive the best treatment available to her. In the last year, Julie has received multiple rounds of different chemo treatments. In the early months it seemed that these were stopping the growth.

In June of 2025 a scan showed that there was new growth. Julie began a 4 day in hospital intensive chemo (there would be 2 of these) in hopes to reduce the tumor enough to have surgery again. After the first set the scan showed that it continued to grow and she developed fevers. They began the 2nd hospital round August 19th. Julie expressed that she was having pains in her side and the fevers continued to spike. When they scanned again they found the tumor had filled her abdomen. This is when the doctors let Julie and Nate know there was nothing else they could do. Within the next couple of days she was moved to hospice.

There have been so many offers to help. Your love and desire to support is appreciated. With the move back to Colorado the Leleks have a lot of family providing food and physical needs for the kids.

Nate does not get paid leave and he will not be returning to work at this time. I would like to alleviate this financial stress so he can be with Julie and the kids. If you would like to donate money you can do so here.

Another way you can support them is by letting them know you are thinking of them. In order to give the family time together we are asking that you do this by sending a card or leaving a message here.
