On Saturday, March 16th 2019 a good friend, Dave Lankford, was injured in a motorcycle accident in St Louis City. He is a member of the Arch City Riders MC and they were out enjoying the beautiful day doing what they love to do, RIDE.
Unfortunately the beautiful day turned tragic after a car turned out in front of the group of riders causing a pileup. (This car did NOT stop and though the City of St. Louis has cameras at the intersection, they were not working at the time.) The careless act of wanting to hurry out to beat the line of "bikers" has left Dave's family in a serious hardship.
Dave's injuries include a broken fibula and tibia bones, a shattered and dislocated ankle (all ligaments and tendons are torn) along with his foot being broken in two places. He has already undergone two surgeries and now has two plates and thirteen screws placed. If that was not bad enough, the skin on his leg was so severely damaged, it is dying and split open. The doctors are waiting two weeks to see if skin grafts will be needed.
His wife Kathleen has been at his side and missed several days of work to be there for her husband and kids (ages 15 & 9). Obviously Dave is going to be out of work for an extended period of time too. The loss of income between the two will be hard to overcome. It is our hope with this gofundme to help them make it through the next several months and cover some of the medical expenses. Dave has given so much to the community on a personal level and as a member of the Arch City Riders MC. He devoted many years to coaching youth baseball and helping the boys overcome tough situations. As a member of the ACRMC, he has been involved in toy drives for less fortunate families. The Lankfords are givers. They do for others with out thought of personal gain or praise. That is why asking for help for them is so important to us.
