Support for the Knutson Family During These Tough Times

In November, Dave received a diagnosis no one wants to hear. Cancer, worse than that, glioblastoma, and even worse than that - 3 masses, only one of which was operable due to location. As Dave and Christy processed the terrifying diagnosis, they did exactly as you would expect of them. They pulled the girls close. Melissa, 34; Kylie, 17 and Presley, 14 and prepared to fight. Dave underwent surgery to remove most of one of the masses and have a shunt placed to reduce the swelling that had been occurring and causing debilitating headaches for months.

At first, everyone was focused on the illness and treatment. Dave was able to complete 5 of his 6 weeks of radiation and chemo before he hit the proverbial wall. As Dave’s symptoms began to worsen, Christy leaned on friends and loved ones who came forward to support in so many ways including helping her with comfort and support and she quickly realized she needed to learn about their insurance, finances and investments thoroughly and quickly. She declined financial assistance from those that offered.

We now sit here, with even worse news from the most recent MRI - not only have the tumors not shrunk or "stalled" from the treatment, they have doubled and a 4th mass has formed. A new reality has set in, these aggressive tumors are showing no mercy and we must prepare for the worst. What that looks like today is unfolding but it is either preparing the home for in-home hospice or bringing Dave to a place where he can rest comfortably in his remaining weeks/months.

While Christy and the girls are having to make the hard decisions, their bills are mounting and it has become obvious that financial support will be needed. So many of you have offered to help, sadly, now Christy needs to say yes. Yes to support for the bills that have already arrived, yes to the ones yet to come, yes to alleviate the financial burden the final weeks will take and to the weeks after he passes. There are still so many unknowns, but one we know is this disease - though it will win the physical fight - it will not allow us to stray from God's love or faith.

We don't always understand why things happen, and what God's plans are for us and our families while here on this earth, but we have to have faith that we will understand once we are home again in Heaven.

On behalf of their family, we ask you to consider donating to this fund to help them with expenses of all kinds from health care to basic living expenses. And we ask that you continue to cover them in prayer - prayers of strength, prayers of understanding, prayers of peace and comfort.

Thank you.
