2023 has been unkind to our family. In January, Vaughn was struck by a vehicle while he was crossing the road. We were just getting him back in school and stabilized when Tom became disoriented and fell in our home in late March. He has been in the hospital since. His situation was dire and he was in the ICU for 15 days. While he's been recovering physically, he is still disoriented and multiple specialists still can't determine exactly what happened or his expected recovery. Today marks number 53 that he's been in the hospital. As if that isn't enough, our dog Abby sustained a tear in her lung over the weekend and has been at the pet hospital since. We are devastated. While surgery would likely fix this, it is cost prohibitive with everything else going on. Losing Abby while we are dealing with Tom's illness feels like more than we can bear.
