Joe was the Director of Safety for the CORE Arizona office, a loyal 17-year employee of CORE, both in Nevada and Arizona, and a friend to many. He started at CORE in 2003 in the field, moved up to Superintendent, and later took a role as safety director in Arizona. He was passionate about the health and safety of his team members. Joe was loved by all who knew him and to say he will be missed is a major understatement. Joe Atencio truly was a servant leader. We will never forget him. There has been such an enormous outpouring of people that have been deeply and positively impacted by Joe and want to support Lorena and his family in any way possible. To this end, we’ve opened up this Go Fund Me page as one way to allow many to do just that.

I always prayed for a good husband and God truly answered my prayers.
I always felt very blessed to be nurtured and cared for, he was always kind and respectful. He had a beautiful heart!
I knew when I met him how much he loved and respected his mother that he would be a good husband. He was so kind with people and he showed me how to love others.
I thank God in this life to be so lucky and blessed that my husband loved me so much. He gave me the best advice in life and always lifted me up. I will miss his big smile especially when he was going to play golf, his forever love.
He was always so happy to go and play his game of golf.
We truly rejoice in love for that game as it was everything to him.
He loved his job and was very proud of what he did day in and day out. He was the hardest working man I ever knew.

It was so easy love Joe, even for a stranger he would always offer kind words that people wouldn’t expect to hear, from a simple hello to personal conversations that would make you feel understood and recognized. He really knew how to compliment you. He was passionate in everything he did and gave his undivided attention to even the smallest tasks. He was a loyal man and once he was with you he was always with you. He wasn’t afraid to say how he felt but he did it in such an eloquent way to always put you at ease. He was loving and generous and gave his time to others. Full of wisdom and joy for living life. He appreciated everything and especially the little things! Oh and he gave the best hugs! He will be deeply missed and never forgotten!
