Support for the Hawkins-Orange Family After Devastating Car Accident

On Friday, January 31st, one of our beloved dance community families, Carissa Hawkins, along with her mother Evelyn and her daughter Hayden were involved in a terrible car accident. When the tragic event occurred, they were on their way to represent the Aptos School Dance Team at our first regional competition.

Evelyn and Hayden were both severely injured, with Evelyn now bedridden and in need of multiple surgeries, while Hayden faces a long recovery. Carissa was fortunate not to require surgery but will still need to heal emotionally and physically from the trauma of the accident. Carissa will also need to take time off from her job as a nurse to care for her mother and daughter as they recover.

Carissa has permitted me to set up this GoFundMe account, and we hope our local community and beyond will come together to support this wonderful family in their time of need. While Evelyn might be reluctant to accept help—being the proud mother she is—she and her family desperately need assistance as they navigate this slow recovery process. The financial burden of their recovery should be the last thing they need to worry about.
