John Harissis passed away on June 24 after battling the after-effects of a stroke since early April. He was a dearly loved son, brother, father and grandpa, survived by his parents, Niko and Bessy, his brother Gus, his children Vasiliki (Vicki), Stavroula (Stacie), and Niko, and his granddaughters, Kimara and Aveya.
John moved to Chicago from Greece in his early 20s and worked most of his life as a painter, carpenter, tile setter, and in other construction work. He was the king of Dad Jokes, always making others laugh and brightening the room with his infectious smile. He loved to play poker and watch the Chicago Bears (even when they suck). John was generous and welcoming to all who crossed his path. He will be greatly missed.
The money raised here will be used to pay for funeral costs and immediate family expenses. Please support in any way you can in his memory and in support of his family.
