Support for the Hardman Family

Donation protected

On May 6th at 6:47 am Molly and James Hardman welcomed their sweet baby boy Elliot George into the world. Although Elliot arrived 4 weeks early, he initially appeared quite healthy weighing 6 pounds 10 ounces and 19.5 inches long. Early the next morning Elliot began experiencing seizures and the Hardman family received the devastating diagnosis that Elliot had suffered a severe intrauterine brain hemorrhage. Elliot spent the following days in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) at Maine Medical Center receiving excellent care from the doctors and nurses. On Mother’s Day, Molly and James were given the devastating prognosis that Elliot’s hemorrhage is so severe that he will not survive.

The immense grief and pain that James, Molly, Lena, Izzy and family are feeling is unfathomable. The magnitude of Elliot’s impact on so many people and hearts in his short time here on earth is a testament to the love and joy Molly and James project from their souls every single day. On Monday I had the opportunity to visit with Molly and I am completely in awe of her strength and perseverance. That day Elliot had the opportunity to meet his big sister Lena, his puppy sister Izzy, his aunties and his grandparents. Repeatedly Molly and James told us that it had been one of the most beautiful days of their lives, full of love and gratitude. The two shared that although they are utterly devastated for their baby boy, they are eternally grateful that he was there with them and that they could hold him, love him and share him with others. They will continue to love him up and make memories together as a family for as long as Elliot decides to stay with us.

My hope for the Hardman family is that we can help ease their burdens in some way. James and Molly will be receiving an alarmingly high medical bill for all of Elliot’s testing and care while in the NICU at MMC. They will also be facing the unexpected costs of laying their precious baby boy to rest. I ask that you join me and others in wrapping around the Hardman family in their time of need and support them in any way that you are able.
