On Wednesday, June 10th, my nephew Daniel Hallstrom was on his way home after helping a friend in need when he lost control of his car. His vehicle went over a steep embankment, and tragically, Daniel was killed in the accident. Daniel and his family were preparing to move to Eastern Washington to live on their family farm, a place Daniel cherished from his childhood. He was finishing up his sophomore year of high school online and had just been accepted into Spokane Community College.

Daniel was such a bright and loving person, and his death greatly affects everyone who knew him, but especially his parents, David and Shelbi Hallstrom. David and Shelbi are incredibly loving parents who have always been willing to help those in need. A couple of years ago, they became foster parents, and just a few months ago, they were able to adopt a child they had fostered. She will miss Daniel very much, as he was a devoted and caring brother.

During this incredibly difficult time, we are asking for support for David and Shelbi and their family. In addition to grieving the loss of their son, they are facing expenses related to funeral and memorial services, lost income, household bills, and other unexpected costs. No family should have to carry these financial worries while mourning such a profound loss.

As Daniel was leaving the house to help his friend, his parting words were 'Love you Mom, Love you Dad.' Daniel would say this daily, often several times a day, and that is a special memory for David and Shelbi. My hope is that we all be like Daniel and tell our loved ones 'I Love You' more often than we do today.
