Support for the Gripentrog Family

On Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at about midnight (almost Thursday morning) Katy Gripentrog started to complain of severe pressure in her head. Her husband Jake contacted Katy's mother and she rushed to her side. Once there, Jake and Katy's mom made the decision to call 911. Katy was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. At the hosptial, a CT scan was performed and it showed she had a brain bleed caused by a ruptured aneurysm. Katy was then med-flighted to UW hospital in Madison. She underwent surgery today, June 15, 2018, at 7:20am to repair the bleed. The surgery last all morning and she came out of surgery with positive expectations of no complications.
Katy is married to Jake and they have two amazing children. It is expected that Katy could be hospitalized for anywhere up to a month. She will then undergo some unexpected amount of therapy. Katy works full time as a hair stylist and part time saving lives as an EMT in Horicon. Jake is currently taking off work from his full time job to be by her side under the state law of FMLA.
Many of you have asked what you can do to help. I sat down today with Jake and we had a conversation about what he needs most during this most trying time. His answer was prayers. Jake is an amazing man who is so in love with his wife, he would give just about anything to change places with her to take her pain away. His biggest concern is leaving the hospital and not being by Katy's side. As we spoke together, I asked him permission to start this fundraiser to help ease some of the burden and help to keep people updated on Katy and her progress. He was reluctant at first, as Jake and Katy both would be the last to ever ask for assistance from those who care most about them. I however assured him that we are a community, a family, we are Horicon Strong.
So, with that said, as we are rallying around this family due to the sudden unexpected emergency health crisis, I am asking you to give in any way possible to help ease the burden of the financial stress they will encounter with the loss of Katy's income as she heals and returns to health. Jake would love to be able to continue to be by her side at this very important time.
If you find it in your hearts to give to this family, in any way possible, I would appreciate you helping me, help them. I also know that this family would appreciate and forever be eternally grateful for the love and support you show.
In the words of Jake: Thanks everyone for all the support! It truly is heartwarming to know that we have so many people praying for us! We still have a long road ahead of us so keep the prayers coming! Thanks again for all the support!
I will post updates on this page as they come in.
Thank you again!
