My family has just faced a devastating emergency that has turned our world around for the time being. My parents' house caught fire on the evening of July 22, 2026. The entire back portion of the house, including 3 bedrooms, the hallway, and bathrooms, was affected by the fire. The ceiling has caved in on the hallway and bedrooms, and the house's air quality is severely poor due to the smoke. A tiny home on the side of the house was also entirely destroyed. The house has been condemned for the foreseeable future. Four people and a dog have been displaced for a minimum of 6-12 months, looking more like 12 due to permits. My family has no extra funds to support them during this difficult time, and I am sorrowfully turning to this platform for the first time, reaching out to our community for help. We are, of course, working with insurance to seek out long-term temporary housing, but we are currently putting my family up at motels while I watch their dog and my own cat is displaced at my neighbor's. Nobody predicts a travesty like this will happen to your family until it does, and then your world flips upside down. Our lives are now before the fire and after the fire. If anyone has anything to spare, even pocket change or resources, we would be so grateful. If you do not have the means to donate, I simply ask that you share this post and help share our story. Truly, anything helps.
