Support for the Goley Family

Pat Morning Sun Goley is an amazing person, grandma, sister, mom, aunt, cousin, and over all human being. She’s been an active member in her community, El Dorado Arkansas for a number of years. She’s went around to various churches and schools spreading knowledge of her Native American culture with her S.A.N.A.O. ( South Arkansas Native American Organization) Organization.
She is also an ordained minister, follows the word of god and is very committed to spreading his word.
Anyone that knows her knows just how much of an amazing person she is, and knows that she would give and give even when she doesn’t have anything left to give to anyone that needs it, even if it means she goes without.
Her and my dad have been married 41 years. They are both disabled and live on a very low income.
Last week my mom went to sleep in her chair and didn’t wake up. We attempted to wake her multiple times. The first time we thought she was just sleeping hard like she sometimes does. We checked her sugar and it was normal. Then a couple hours later we tried to wake her but she seemed to be just sleeping. An hour or so later we were worried about her not waking up. I did a sternal rub and ice around her face and wrists. I checked her sugar and it said 65. My dad, my sister, and I put a popsicle in her mouth and rechecked her sugar a few minutes later and it read 212. We thought that was good. She still wasn’t conscious so we called 911 for and ambulance. They got there and put her in the ambulance and started trying to stabilize her. Right before they left, the paramedic said her sugar was only 35 and that it probably had been low the whole time and that the glucose monitor must be faulty. By the time she got the the ER, her sugar level was 10. They intubated her and found she had a GI bleed (which they gave her blood for), pneumonia, and her sugar being too low for too long. She was moved to the ICU. While in ICU they took her off the sedation that is standard with the ventilator. She remained unresponsive. She then went into A-fib and they tried the medication that they were able to give her, but it didn’t work. The doctor decided to do shock therapy to try to “reset” the heart beat. He shocked her three times, but it didn’t work. All they can do now for that is to give her meds to keep her blood pressure and heart beats at a normal level. The doctors decided she needed to be transferred to a bigger hospital that had a neurological trauma department. She was transferred to the new hospital fairly quickly. After arriving at the new hospital, they stabilized h ER the nest the coins and hooked her up to a EEG machine to monitor her brain function. There was no brain activity showing on the monitor. We are waiting for her to get an MRI to see what is going on in her brain. She still has the other problems that are being monitored and kept stable. My dad and I got to see her when we got there because the nurse wanted to explain what was happening, or not happening, with mom. She explained what the EEG monitor results were. That there was no activity. She told us to prepare to make some hard decisions, and to be prepared for the worst, but hope and pray for the best. My parents are poor and they don’t have the money to cover all of the costs associated with this tragic situation we have been placed in. He has to have hotels, gas, food, and the medical bills are going to be crazy high. Any help they can get would be greatly and or prayers would be appreciated...Thankyou all, God Bless.
