Robbie Francis, is an amazing father, husband, friend, and community member who has recently been diagnosed with a rare condition called Moyamoya. Moyamoya (pronounced MOY-a-MOY-a) is a problem with blood flow to the brain. It happens when the major blood vessels to the brain (internal carotid arteries) become narrower making it harder for oxygen-rich blood to get through. Small blood vessels then form to create a new path for blood to flow.
Because Moyamoya is very rare, Robbie and his wife Jessie will have to travel to California for treatment at Stanford University by a world renowned surgeon, including consultations as well as surgery. This will require them to be away from their home for at least 2-3 weeks in September, and Robbie will be unable to work for 2 months.
This kind of unexpected illness will, of course, put financial strain on a family of 5 and any support we can provide for them will be very much appreciated.
