Meet the Ferris family-Tom, Liccy, and beautiful baby Nova! Before Nova arrived, Tom and Liccy led busy lives in full time service in the Honduran Sign Language field. They've lived a life of self sacrifice as Special Pioneers, School for Kingdom Evangelizers Graduates, and as Remote Translation Volunteers. They got the most special assignment of their lives last year when baby Nova arrived!
In January of 2020, they flew from their home in Honduras to the states to visit Tom's family. While here, Covid-19 hit the US and Honduras. Their original plan was to fly back to Honduras April 2nd, but in March the Honduran government shut all borders and closed the airports. Since that time, they've rebooked 3 flights home only to have all of them cancelled. Tom and Nova are US citizens, but Liccy is here on a US visa that expires at the end of July. Wanting to follow the law, they tried to extend her visa, but the wait times are exceptionally long. They were told by US officials if she stays after her visa expires and her extension is denied, she will lose it and may not be able to enter the US again. That is something they are desperately trying to avoid so as not to break any laws, and so that Liccy can return to visit family and friends in the future in the US.
So now time is running out, and they are trying to get a humanitarian flight by July 25th. Unfortunately, humanitarian flights are extremely expensive...sometimes 10x more than a normal flight. They are currently living with family in Kentucky, so they will need to fly or rent a car and drive from Kentucky to an international airport then fly back to Honduras. Upon arriving in Honduras, they will need to arrange transportation from the airport several hours back to their home. So as you can imagine costs are several thousands of dollars.
Tom and Liccy are one of the most self sacrificing couples we know. When we visited Honduras in 2012, they were serving as Special Pioneers. Even though they had very little, they shared everything with us and the Deaf in their area. That generosity led to an excellent witness in their territory, and they have aided many in their journey to baptism.
They wouldn't normally ask for this kind of help, but as most of us know times are tough. Before the pandemic, they both supported their family by teaching online. Due to Covid19, Liccy has lost her job, so they are living on half their income in the states while still fulfilling financial obligations in Honduras. Any donations will be greatly appreciated as they try to get home and support baby Nova.
Thank you for your generosity!
