Support for the family of William "Bill" Godfrey
Donation protected
On Saturday, September 11th, William "Bill" Godfrey went to the Emergency Room following a fall at his home. The following day he was taken by helicopter to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth for a suspected brain bleed due to the trauma of the fall where he underwent emergency surgery. While the surgery was successful in relieving the pressure on Bills's brain/brain stem, he is still intubated and not awake. Subsequent CT scans and MRIs are hopeful and he is trying to breath on his own. The medical staff attempted to lower his sedation in order to measure his current baseline functioning but seizure activities were blocking those attempts. He is now on medication to prevent further seizures. There have been many moments of hope, followed by several lows. Right now, Bill's wife, Katie, son Tom, and daughter Molly are staying by his side in Duluth. There can only be two visitors a day at the hospital due to COVID-19 protocol so the family is alternating their time with him. The amount of time they will be in Duluth is unknown. The assistance from this GoFundMe will go towards food and lodging in Duluth so Bill's wife, Katie, can stay close and hopefully not have to drive back and forth from Grand Rapids everyday, about 3 hours roundtrip. The family thanks you for your support and continued prayers for Bill, his family, and over the medical staff caring for him.
