With deep sadness, we share the passing Joan Githaiga of Silver Spring, Maryland, who left us early Thursday morning, November 20th, after a long battle with lupus. Joan was a loving mother, a dear friend, and a cherished member of our community. Her warmth, laughter, and kindness touched everyone she met.

Joan leaves behind her 7-year-old son, who now faces life without his mother’s love and guidance. As the family mourns this heartbreaking loss, they are also confronted with overwhelming expenses, including funeral home fees, a casket, cemetery and memorial service costs, and urgent travel expenses to bring close family members from Kenya to say their final farewells.

Joan loved life and carried a joyful spirit wherever she went. In honoring her memory, we invite you to give with the same warmth and generosity she showed others. Her family and community are deeply grateful for your support.
