On January 23, Joanna found out she had a tumor on her cervical spine that needed to be removed. On February 17, she underwent an 8-hour long surgery and was diagnosed with a partial spinal cord injury.

Previously, she was planning on returning to work in mid-April, but due to these complications, she will be unable to work until her dexterity, nerve sensations, and balance improve.
