John Ekdahl died this morning, at the age of 47, after a three-year-battle with cancer. He leaves behind a wife of nearly two decades, and two young children: a thirteen-year-old daughter and a ten-year-old son. John was a devoted father and husband. He was extremely funny, as those who knew him online and in person can attest. He loved sports, especially the Yankees and Jaguars. He grew up in New Jersey, but moved to Florida in 2008, quickly embracing the lifestyle of the Florida Man. From fishing to golf carts to cookouts on the beach, John was always at the center of his adopted community, and always looking to bring more people together.

I have set up this GoFundMe so that those who loved him can help his family with the many expenses that this horrible disease leaves in its wake. As those who have lost a loved one will know, it’s not just the medical bills, or the funeral expenses, or the other sundry costs that show up when a person is chronically ill. Because of his cancer, John was been unable to work consistently for a while, and this took its own toll. By raising some money for the Ekdahl Family, we can help to set them back on their feet.
