Honoring the Life of Coach Eric Divens

With an extremely heavy heart, we share that our brother, Coach Eric Divens, was called home. Eric passed while at home, and we pray he went peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord.

Eric was many things—a son, brother, father, friend, mentor, and coach—but above all, he was a servant. He lived with a heart of pure willingness, always giving of himself without hesitation. His impact reached far beyond the field or classroom; he poured into the lives of young people, shaping character, instilling discipline, and offering guidance that will live on through them.

As we mourn his passing, we lift his family and loved ones in prayer, holding them close during this time of profound loss. Through his life’s work, Eric mentored, taught, and coached many young men and women. His presence was steady, his words intentional, and his love genuine.

We are coming together as a community to surround the Divens family with love, prayer, and support during this difficult time.

Purpose of This Fund

Funds raised through this GoFundMe will help cover:

• Funeral and memorial services

• Clergy involvement and arrangements

• Floral tributes

• A repast gathering to bring family, friends, and the community together in remembrance

• Family support to help ease the many unexpected and overwhelming needs that arise during a time of loss

*For transparency: The beneficiary is our dear friend Patricia ‘Patty’ Divens (Eric’s mother), who will manage all funds raised, per the purpose outlined above. Eric was one of my husband's best friends - as we all grew up together. GoFundMe requested clarification on both the beneficiary and the use of funds. I had included this in the story, but it was apparently overlooked (by GoFundMe). Navigating their customer support, which is chat-based AI, certainly contributed to delays, as it wasn’t the clearest process. Either way, I want to make sure it’s fully addressed now.
