On January 4th, while on a dream family trip to Kenya, Leah's family was involved in a devastating road accident. We are heartbroken to share that Emmanuel, an 8th grader at Hoover Middle School, Waterloo, Iowa and his younger brother Kairo passed away at the scene. Their older sister, Njeri, a junior at West High, Waterloo Iowa is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in critical condition at a hospital in Kenya.
While their parents are physically safe, they are now facing a parent's worst nightmare in a foreign country.
The costs associated with an international tragedy are overwhelming. We are asking for the community’s help to cover:
- Medical Expenses: Critical care and surgery costs for Njeri’s recovery in Kenya.
- Funeral expenses
- Travel & Support: Helping the parents stay by Njeri’s side during her recovery and covering the sudden logistical costs of this crisis.
