“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.”
- Coretta Scott King
We are a great community, and I know we can demonstrate just how amazingly compassionate we are!
One of our own, Steve Dagg, and his beautiful family, wife Kim Davidson, and daughters Frankie and Jolene, were given news that would devastate any young family. Three months ago, Steve was diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
Steve and Kim are both very active in our beautiful community. Steve is an outstanding photographer, videographer and film editor: working for Westben, filming concerts and snapping photos; capturing images for The Trent Hills Tribune; and filming footage for many of our local small businesses. While Kim is the entrepreneur behind the local business, Sans Kitchen; as well as an employee of The Homegrown Hamper; Steve is the main income earner, while Kim focuses on homeschooling their two young daughters.
Steve is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments in Toronto, which leave him very ill for days following. Just today, Steve learned that his chemotherapy treatments have been extended for another two long months. Once Steve’s chemotherapy treatments are completed in a few months, he will begin intensive and extensive radiation. Steve’s oncology team require him to be in Toronto, to have radiation treatment every single day for five weeks. Steve will then undergo surgery, that will require him to be hospitalized, and then to remain on bed rest at home. The remainder of Steve’s care is yet to be determined. Steve will be unable to work for an indefinite amount of time.
Not only does this devastating news affect their livelihood; it comes right in the middle of a global pandemic. I know that those of you who know this beautiful family, love them as I do. For those who may not know them quite as well: The Dagg/Davidson family are love-filled, vibrant, kind, compassionate and community-oriented people; they truly are salt of the earth folks.
Your generosity and kindness, would not only help them out in a time of need, it will further weave the web of our community even tighter. We are in this together; let us show them just how far love and community can carry them.
With love and much gratitude,
