On Thursday July 23, 2022 the world lost a great Friend, Son, Brother and Uncle. If you were blessed to cross paths with this beautiful soul, it goes without saying you walked away a better person. His infectious laugh was like a warm hug, in return making you laugh, always creating a fun loving moment shared. He was so generous with his time and abilities and would help anyone that needed it. If you are able, please consider giving to help cover unexpected costs related to the sudden loss of this VERY great man.

Obituary
MARQUETTE, MI - Christopher Steven Mahaffey, age 46, of Marquette, passed away, Thursday, June 23, 2022.
Chris was born January 16, 1976, in Marquette, the son of Steven and Linda (Washburn) Mahaffey, and raised in Marquette. During his youth, he developed a deep love of music which remained with him the rest of his life. He graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1994 where he participated in football and track and was on the honor roll all four years of high school. He later attended Northern Michigan University, eventually earning his Bachelors Degree in French, Sociology, and Accounting and distinguishing himself by being on the Dean’s List each semester. Chris held a variety of employments during his lifetime and locally worked for Vangos, White’s Party Store, doing maintenance for UP Home Health and Hospice, delivering for Forsberg’s New Leaf Florist, and most recently working at Togos. He was outgoing, enjoyed meeting people, and always available to help out his friends to whom he was fiercely devoted. Chris was generous and selfless to whom possessions meant very little. Whatever he had, he was more than willing to share. He often helped friends with landscaping projects, loved to go fishing with his friend, Ryan, loved the Hiawatha Music Festival and music of all genres.
Chris is survived by his parents, Linda and Steve Mahaffey; his sister, Jennifer (Andy) Erickson of Marquette, and their children, Drew and Cora Erickson; his special fur nephew, Cash; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and numerous friends. No longer by our side, but forever in our hearts.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Wednesday, June 29, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. This will be an informal time for the sharing of memories, conversation, and refreshments. Interment will follow at Park Cemetery.
