Tuesday morning, my sisters husband Tom Castaneda suffered a massive stroke. Everyone acted quickly and called an ambulance, and he was transported to Edward Hospital. Upon arriving at the ER, he was immediately taken for a CT scan, which revealed significant bleeding on his brain. The medical team performed a procedure to place a tube in his brain’s ventricle to drain fluid and alleviate the pressure on his brain. They also placed him on a ventilator as he was too incoherent to protect his own airway.

He suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and has an extremely long road ahead of him.

He is currently in the neuro ICU, where he will remain as the fluid drains from his brain, a process that could take several days to a week. We deeply appreciate all prayers and positive thoughts during this incredibly challenging time. I will provide updates as I know more.
