Support for the Cahillane-Clark-Johnson Family
Donation protected
It’s been a very difficult month for my family. A few weeks ago, I received a life-changing call that my mom, Elizabeth Johnson (Clark), was hospitalized for lung cancer. This came as a complete shock, as my mom is not a smoker. I’ve recently moved from law school in Las Vegas, Nevada back to help my mom and my family in Maine as we navigate her illness.
Although we are still learning new information, the current diagnosis stands at malignancy and adenocarcinoma, the most common form of cancer seen in the United States. We met with her oncologist this week and it is likely she will have to undergo chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or a combination of both.
My mom has been a single parent most of my life, and has raised both me and my younger brother, Andrew. The three of us have always been a family and a household.
Andrew is a senior in high school. In addition to the trials and tribulations of such a period of life he has had to grow up much faster than should be expected as a result of my mom’s diagnosis. I’ve been very proud of how he has been handling this situation, but unfortunately this has been very hard for the both of us. On top of everything else, Andrew was recently hospitalized in the emergency room in St. Johnsbury, Vermont for his own health issues.
Donations will serve to help my mom’s treatment, my brother, and support my family. I’m in my final semester at the Boyd School of Law and my professors in Nevada have been very accommodating with transitioning my schedule online in order for me to get my degree this Spring. My goal is to raise enough money to help my family until I’m able to graduate, pass the state bar, and start generating an income.
I’ve already received so much kindness and support from so many people in my life and I thank everyone who has been helping my family during this challenging time.
