We are saddened to hear of the passing of Louis Burkwhat on Tuesday, June 22nd after a horrible car accident involving him, Myra, and eight of their ten children while vacationing in Utah. Currently, Myra and the kids are recovering from injuries and are in the process of being released from the hospital.
We can only imagine that there will be a long road of grief, recovery, and rebuilding ahead of Myra and the children. We desire to support them as much as possible through our prayers and financial support. Please join us as we assist them by preemptively give towards needs that we know will be felt soon.
It is our understanding that the vehicle and the camper that they were towing were both destroyed in the accident. Louis was also the primary breadwinner of the family, working as the Associate Dean of Student Services at Simpson University. The Burkwhat's children range from 24y – 2y old, with eight of them currently living in the home.
Immediate needs include a new vehicle for the family, car seats, food, lodging, and costs for transportation back to Redding from Salt Lake City. Upcoming financial needs will include costs for medical care, lifestyle, housing, education, and basic needs.
Please stay tuned as we will try to update this page with information as we learn more. In the meantime, please give generously to this family, a family that is a blessing to every person that they encounter, in their time of need.
My name is Steve Jellicorse, a longtime friend of the Burkwhat family, and I am managing this campaign with a group of friends of the family from both their North Carolina and California communities. All funds will be going directly into an account owned and managed by Myra.
In addition to giving, please share how the Burkwhat family has blessed you in a comment below.
