Support for the Banister Family
Donation protected
Those of you who know 12 year-old Tyson Banister know he is a strong, athletic and smart kid. In the fall of 2024, Tyson was diagnosed with cancer in his leg - osteosarcoma in his femur. This is the same kind of cancer Terry Fox had. He has been undergoing treatment at the Children’s Hospital in Vancouver and otherwise lives at the Ronald McDonald House with mom. His father Ross and brother Owen travel from Victoria to visit him on weekends.
Tyson’s treatment is expected to take 10 months. He has had a couple of successful surgeries on his leg, and, after a time of recovery, is now undergoing the second half of his treatment.
As you can imagine, this is a tremendous undertaking for the Banister family. It’s not something we normally prepare for. While their income is now lower, their expenses are also higher. Heather continues to be off work during this time. Let’s give them a hand up so they don’t have to focus on finances and can put their attention on the healing of their son.
Friends and family have shown so much support with food, care packages, and finances for which the family is very grateful. Let’s continue to help them stay afloat financially as they move deeper into treatment.
We are hopeful and optimistic that Tyson and the Banister family will come through this with flying colours, and your heart-felt support is an essential part of the process.
