My sister recently faced a medical emergency that changed her life overnight. She underwent emergency surgery. The recovery process is long and difficult—she will be out of work for at least 12 weeks, and after that, she’ll need another surgery, which could keep her out of work for an additional 6 to 12 weeks. This has been an overwhelming and emotional time for her and our family, as we try to support her through each step of her recovery.
