Teresa has faced many challenges medically over 30 years but none have struck as hard or as violently as this recent diagnosis. My mother has always been a pillar of strength for our family. As a single mother, she raised three boys on her own while living with a disability since 2000. Her resilience and love have shaped the lives of those around her, and she has faced every challenge with grace and determination. Recently, my mother received the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 small cell lung cancer. Despite her courage, the financial burden of her illness has become overwhelming for our household.
The costs associated with my mother’s care are extensive. Funds raised will go directly toward her cancer treatment, household bills and utilities, medical supplies, home health nursing and lab work, and medical transportation that isn’t fully covered by Medicare. We are also struggling to cover basic necessities as I am unable to work while serving as her 24/7 caregiver. I have applied for every possible form of assistance from the state of Florida and Medicaid, but these processes are slow and uncertain. We are desperate for a bit of relief to help my mother get the medications and care she needs to have a fighting chance.
Asking for help is not easy for me, but I have reached a point where I must swallow my pride for the sake of my mother’s well-being. I am a big believer in God and a professing Christian, and I am praying this fundraiser reaches the hearts of those who can help. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this page is an act of kindness that means the world to us.
The initial goal is $5k but if we manage to get more that’s amazing and definitely helps us push the amount of months we can stay afloat.
Thank you so much, and God bless.
