My name is Luciana and I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of my husband's (Jason Taylor) mom and sister. To start, Jason, Ilan, Tate and I have been affected by the wildfires and also safe, healthy and our home is intact.
Please consider helping Jason's mother, Ruth Taylor, and sister Carla Taylor, after losing their home from the Eaton fire in Altadena, CA. This was the first and only family home of the Taylor's since 1967. Jason and Carla, were born, raised, and lived in this home. Like most of the city of Altadena the home was destroyed by the fire.
In the early hours of January 8th, in the midst of howling winds and flying embers, Ruth and Carla made the decision to leave with only the clothes they were wearing and very few possessions as flames ignited the front yard. Thankfully, they made it out unscathed.
They are currently trying figure out next steps and need our support. The devastation is heartbreaking as years of memories, possessions, childhood memorabilia, money, important documents, and a place to call home are gone in a short time. The images are all difficult to digest. The pics here depict a very loved home that was part of the historic Jane's Village neighborhood, which was one of few areas that offered the reality of home ownership for many Black families in the 60s.
Our last family memory and last picture inside the home was celebrating Grandma's 85th birthday on 7/27, which is also Tate's birthday.
Right now, all donations will go towards navigating this devastating loss and will be used to cover unmet needs not covered by other disaster relief aid.
