Support for Taryn and Paul Iliyn

Donation protected
Dearest friends and family, I am posting this with a heavy heart. Taryn and Paul have asked me to communicate information to help them avoid heavy conversations right now. Please allow them some space and time to grieve. This information is being shared privately. Please do not post anything publicly on social media at this time once the Iliyn family is ready to announce they will share more on social. If you have questions, please reach out to me, (Lana Iliyn McCoy) by contacting me through this application or if you have my personal cell phone number.

Taryn's uterus ruptured on the morning of the 18th. She went to bed thinking early labor was probably starting and wanted to get some rest. Hours later she woke up with stabbing abdominal pain in the middle of the night that quickly became excruciating. 911 was called and Taryn was taken straight to the labor and delivery OR for emergent cesarean. Miraculously, Taryn is alive, but baby Elias Paul received 16min of CPR and transferred to NICU for further care. It was quickly decided both Taryn and Elias needed to be transferred to Randall’s for further care.

Both were ambulanced up to Portland and spent four days navigating their son’s deterioration in the NICU while Taryn also was able to receive care and still be close to her son.

After 72hrs of cooling and determining their son was brain dead it was decided to remove life support. He went to be with Jesus on the morning of February 21st at 10:30am.

Eli’s heart was a candidate for organ donation. Eli’s situation is rare and most babies in waiting don’t receive donations in time because of the rarity. Paul and Taryn decided to donate to save up to four babies lives. Knowing donations are also what saved Taryn and helped Eli during their hospital stay, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to reciprocate their thankfulness during this awful time.

They wish to let everyone know how thankful and deeply grateful they are for everyone that has helped them during this time of grief. It’s a club no parent should have to join. Helping your children navigate loss is another layer of pain that has been difficult to navigate. We’re working towards healing our family and hope to be better versions of ourselves one day.

(NOTE: WE SET THIS UP ON MEAL TRAIN FIRST, BUT THEY TAKE OUT DOUBLE THE FEES. PLEASE USE THIS PLATFORM INSTEAD OF MEAL TRAIN TO DONATE.)

Paul and Taryn are not requesting meals to be delivered at this time. If you have something to deliver, please contact me through this application. Thank you for your sensitivity in this heartbreaking season.

Please keep Paul, Taryn, Reece and Raya in your prayers.

$7500 was raised on Meal Train by over 60 donors. Thank you for that. Paul and Taryn are humbled by your generosity.

I have checked with a CPA, and all donations will not be taxed, but there is a 2.5% processing fee on GoFundMe. If you want to avoid that fee, you can send a check via mail. Please write the check to Paul or Taryn Iliyn, and mail it to my house. I will compile them and get them to Paul and Taryn.
