For more than 40 years, my mother, Tangeala Bevens (Tangi), has dedicated her life to caring for others. Whether in her personal life or as a professional, caring for people has always brought her great joy. Long before she became a Direct Support Professional, she worked as a nursing assistant, forming deep, meaningful connections with every patient she met. For Tangeala, caring for people isn’t just a job — it’s her calling. Her compassion, patience, and ability to make others feel seen and valued have touched countless lives. As a DSP working with individuals with special needs, she pours her heart into supporting people with disabilities, showing up every day with love and unwavering commitment. Her extraordinary dedication even earned her the honor of DSP of the Year, but anyone who knows her would say she has always been exceptional, long before any award recognized it. On Friday the 13th, everything changed. Tangeala suffered multiple strokes and now faces a demanding recovery. She will need ongoing therapies, time away from work, and the stability to focus fully on healing. For someone who has spent her entire life lifting others up, this sudden shift has created a significant financial strain. Tangeala is kind, smart, talented, and endlessly selfless. Even now, she worries more about everyone else than herself. She has given so much of her life to caring for others, and now it’s our turn to care for her. Every donation, every share, and every prayer truly makes a difference. Thank you for standing with her and helping us give back to a woman who has given so much to so many. Your support means more than words can express.
