Swolog’s (Jason Olog) fight against Leukemia

Donation protected
Hi all, my name is Kristina and I am Jason’s cousin.

Early last week, Jason had started to feel under the weather. He assumed he was just drained and worn out from the crazy hours he’d been working at his new job. He spiked a fever suddenly and his mom (a phlebotomist) was concerned he had some type of infection, so she drew his blood Friday morning and had lab work done at her work. They found his white blood cell count was way off and doctors said it looked like he had some form of Leukemia. His mom & dad took him to the ER at MD Anderson Saturday morning and thankfully he was admitted immediately. They confirmed he has ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia – blood cancer) but they provided us with an extremely positive prognosis and are optimistic he will respond very well to treatment. He had a sample of his bone marrow drawn from his spine today and pending the results of the tests, the doctor will draw up the chemo game plan he thinks is best to move forward with.

Jason & I have been very close growing up and even as a kid, he has always been fueled with determination and would strive to do the best in everything he does. Having the pleasure of knowing him, I’m sure you all don’t need me to tell you that this dude is a warrior and one hell of a fighter! We’ve got a long road ahead of us but there’s no question about it – Jason is going to kick cancer’s ass and has an incredible support system backing him up!

As much as Jason has done to help SO many others and the community, I would like to see that same love & energy returned to him. As we can all rightfully assume, medical bills/treatment/travel expenses/meals/etc. for him & his parents are going to add up very quickly - right now, the doctor is predicting Jason will receive monthly treatments of chemo for at least a year. Unfortunately due to having just started a new job, Jason is still under a probation period and currently does not have medical benefits at this time, so all costs will have to be paid out of pocket. I’ve set up this GoFundMe account to help alleviate some of the stress and financial burden so that Jason and our family can focus on his health, treatment and recovery. We appreciate any assistance that anyone can provide – no amount is too small! Every little bit helps tremendously.

I will continue to update this page as we receive more news. Thank you all for your positive thoughts, prayers and support ❤️
