Support for Sweet Lady

Hello everyone

With the urging of some barn friends, I have decided to create my own GoFundMe campaign for Lady’s surgery.

Lady came to me as a foster after her owner passed away. She is not being fostered through the rescue I volunteer with, but rather, I took her as a favor to her owner’s family, whom I babysit for. Her owner’s family is unable to help financially, and while they started a different GoFundMe, I have not received any funds from it as of yet (the amount of this fundraiser is less than her total cost of care, just in case the other fundraiser produces results). As she is not being fostered through the rescue, I am paying for all of her care, and she has needed SO MUCH care already.

Lady arrived to me with a large tumor on her belly. I scheduled a vet appointment, and after some bloodwork and an aspirate, it was determined that the tumor was cancerous and would need immediate removal. In addition to the tumor, Lady also had a UTI requiring antibiotics, advanced periodontal disease, and obesity. Lady has been on a healthy diet, has received multiple daily walks, has finished her round of antibiotics, and will have her tumor removal surgery and dental on Wednesday.

Why would I pay for all of this for a dog I just met? The answer is simple: because she deserves to be cared for. Lady is a great dog who has had some trauma with her owner passing away. In spite of her poor health and what she has been through, she continues to be one of the happiest girls around. She loves snuggling, tossing squeak toys in the air and catching them, pulling stuffing out of toys, following Rudy around, going for walks, and chasing rabbits.

The vets are hoping that after her surgery, Lady’s cancer will be gone and she will have a chance at a long and happy life. Because her prognosis is so good with the right care, I know that helping her is the right thing to do. Any donations will go exclusively to Lady’s care (surgery, medications, follow up appointments, etc). She (and I) are so grateful for anything you can give.
