Doris recently went through double surgeries within a month’s time. At age 94 she fell and broke her femur and went into the hospital to have a rod put in to repair it. Unfortunately, it did not hold in place due to soft bones where they attached it. The decision was made to go in and remove it and do a complete hip replacement. Due to her good health at her age, it was decided the surgery was a go. In talking with the hospital, they told her the astronomical fee for the surgery. It was a shock knowing that only 80% would probably be covered. 20% of this amount is very costly for someone at that age knowing you live on a fixed income. We are reaching out to help cover the additional 20% and any other expenses that are not covered by her supplemental insurance. Any amount that is given will be greatly appreciated. Being able to take care of this financial burden will allow her to focus on her health and recuperation, knowing she won’t have this debt hanging over her.
