UPDATED 6/11/26. The diagnosis of Cancer type. Samples were sent to University of Michigan for help of biopsy samples. Susan went through 2 different operations for the doctor to pull the samples. First was processed in hospital and was inconclusive. So they had to get more invasive to pull larger samples. Susan, my mother, has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Liposarcoma well-differentiated. Which is way better than the verbal diagnosis of Single Cell Lung Cancer I was given by the hospital oncologist. Next week we should be meeting with a new oncologist. Will keep everyone updated.
**original post--> I'm currently caring for my mother who we had been told it is single Cell lung cancer. This has been an incredibly difficult time for both of us, especially since I am living in a different state from where my job is. I have exhausted all my leave and sick time, which means I am not receiving a paycheck. My mother is on Medicare and receives very little each month to pay her bills. I have no cash to put gas in my car, pay my phone bill, buy new medication, or groceries. I was paying for her groceries to be delivered, but now I am struggling to cover even the most basic expenses.
The funds raised will allow me to stay in her home and provide the care she needs. I will be able to cook, clean, drive her to medical appointments (she has no car), pick up medications, assist in personal hygiene care, and offer emotional support. Not having to worry about how to purchase food, gas, medications, or pay the cell phone bill will make a huge difference. Being here for my mom's mental support is crucial, especially after we lost her husband, my stepdad, to cancer just several years ago. She has been struggling with severe challenges, and I want to do everything I can to help her through this.
Any support will be greatly appreciated, for Susan's Recovery and Medical Care.
