My name is Susan, and I am disabled with multiple debilitating health conditions. I rely on home health care, but they are only able to come three times a week for about an hour. My husband, Alan, has always been my primary caregiver and our main source of income. Two weeks ago, his temporary job ended unexpectedly, and we lost his regular weekly income. Just as he was on his way to a job interview to find new work, Alan was riding his E-Bike when he was struck by a car. The accident left him with a separated right shoulder that may require surgery and an injured left knee that is currently in an immobilizer and being further evaluated. Alan is in considerable pain, and his recovery is expected to take at least 6-12 weeks, depending on the results of further X-rays and MRIs. We are also pursuing legal action against the driver responsible. But unfortunately she only carries minimal PIP and we will be unable to cover even the medical let alone our regular expenses.
This has put us in a very difficult situation. We are struggling to cover our basic living expenses, including rent, electricity, food, and water. My ongoing medical needs, such as co-pays and medical supplies, are not fully covered by disability, and the costs are adding up quickly. With Alan unable to work or care for me as he did before, we are facing challenges we never expected.
We would gratefully appreciate any help, no matter how much, and ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Your support will help us get through this incredibly tough time and allow us to focus on Alan’s recovery and my health. Thank you for considering helping our family.
