For the past two months, I’ve been dealing with severe pain in my lower stomach. At first, I thought it was just constipation, but on July 5th, the pain became unbearable and I ended up in the ER. After several tests, I learned my appendix had ruptured, and I was transferred to United in St. Paul for treatment. They inserted a tube to flush out the infection and started me on antibiotics, but the healing process has been slow. My doctor suspects my appendix may have attached itself to my bladder, which could make the upcoming surgery even more complicated. I’m scheduled for surgery in early September, but the uncertainty and waiting have been tough.

Being out of work for almost a month has put a huge strain on my finances. I was able to return to work briefly, but I’ll need more time off for surgery and recovery. With four children to support, the stress of unpaid bills and missed child support has weighed heavily on me and their mothers. Right now, I’m struggling to cover rent, utilities, and food, and anything extra will go toward medical bills. The hardest part has been not being able to be active with my kids or even take them out for a simple meal. The experience has made me realize how close I came to not being here for them, and that’s been the most difficult part of all.
