Summer is a massage therapist in our office, and many of you know her as a caring and dedicated professional. Recently, her family has been facing a series of overwhelming challenges. Her husband, David, has been struggling with advanced diabetes, which has led to severe complications. Earlier this fall, an artery in his left eye infarcted, causing him to lose vision in that eye. More recently, a rapidly progressing infection in his foot required a partial amputation. While in the hospital, doctors also discovered that David is in Stage IV kidney failure, requiring dialysis, and he now needs frequent infusions because his body can no longer produce red blood cells on its own.

Summer is the primary breadwinner for her household, while David has been caring for their children. With these new medical challenges, Summer will need to cut back her hours at work to be home with her kids and support her husband through his recovery. This has put a significant financial strain on their family, as they try to manage everyday expenses alongside mounting medical needs.
