This is Summer Renee. She is six years old and normally very active, friendly, smart, and definitely a part of the family.
For the past two weeks, she has been dropping weight rapidly, not eating, and not wanting to play. We also noticed blood in her stool, and she has been throwing up. We took her to the vet two weeks ago, and they said everything was fine; even her weight read 55.8 lbs, which was only 3 pounds less than her last visit six months ago. However, to us, it seemed like she had lost a lot more. Well, between Saturday, November 23, and Monday, December 2, we could see her bones. She looked like a walking skeleton. So we took her back to the vet, and she now weighs 38 pounds. Today is Thursday, December 5, and she is still in the animal hospital. After numerous tests, x-rays, and medication through an IV, they have come up with a diagnosis. Our baby girl has stomach cancer. They have given her anywhere between two weeks and six months left to live.
Needless to say, this has devastated our family! To know Summer Renee was definitely to love her. Everybody who has come to our house fell in love with her immediately. My husband and I are raising two grandchildren, ages six and nine. Summer Renee was born the same year as the youngest. Our family pet has slept with him since he was born. I’m thinking about waiting until the weekend to share this news with the children; this is going to be devastating for them.
To top things off, we have run up quite a bill at the animal hospital. And we’re definitely going to need money for her final expenses. When the time comes for her to go over the rainbow bridge, we want to be able to send her over in a loving manner. Between the bills and her final expenses, I am reaching out, asking for any help that we can possibly get to take some of the burden off.
No amount will be too small, and definitely no amount will be too much. I’m asking that you reach into your heart and do what you can. She was such a special girl. She deserves the best, and unfortunately, we are not in the position to give her much. I am pleading that you open your hearts and help us in our time of need.
May you be blessed whether you are in a position to help us or not. Thanks for taking the time to read about Summer Renee.
