Hi, My name is Priyanka Gogoi. I am reaching out to you to help my brother fight Leukemia and save his life.
On Sept 2nd, 2021, my brother Sudipta (31 yrs) was on his way to Bengaluru airport to catch a flight to visit our parents in Assam. While on his way to the airport, he suddenly fell sick and missed the flight. On Sept 6th, he visited the doctor as he couldn’t eat due to nausea and indigestion and was immediately asked to get admitted after some blood tests. The same day, I got a call, and our lives changed forever. My brother got diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a rare cancer, out of the blue, and the doctors asked for family members to come over. He had been a sportsperson, had no symptoms and was a healthy 31 yrs old adult until things changed overnight. Sudipta was immediately put on steroids as his liver was affected and soon after received chemotherapy as per BFM-95 protocol in Apollo hospital, Bengaluru, as he needed immediate treatment. He was successfully brought into remission and had completed the consolidation phase when we got the unfortunate news of his relapse in March 2022. Apollo hospital referred him to Narayan Hrudayala in Bengaluru. He was brought to remission again after a month of hospitalization. On 3rd June 2022, he got a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) from our father and now is recovering in isolation in the hospital, where he will stay for at least another month. Over the course of the last 9 months, he had stayed in hospitals for more than 5 months, and we have spent over INR 75 lacs (USD 100000+) which includes numerous blood transfusions, countless blood tests, and thousands of medicines, etc. We are truly grateful that amidst a lot of difficulties and with the help of family and friends, we could afford to cover the medical expenses so far.
If you are reading this, I thank you for your time. Please do not feel obligated to donate but we will appreciate your help as we don't know future financial implications, which I am sure is going to go up every day. At this point, we need to admit that the funds are drying up. Given the nature of the disease and possible complications during his recovery post BMT, expenses are going to rise and he would need long term hospitalization for recovery. We are expecting to incur at least INR 20 Lacs (~USD 30000)/month for next few months. This has been a very challenging journey for my brother and for us as a family. If you do feel the urge to help, please consider a donation to support our family and keep Sudipta in your prayers. Thank you !
