Yesterday, November 2nd, my family experienced an unimaginable tragedy — we lost my dad in a sudden accident. My mom, who has worked tirelessly beside him her whole life, is now facing not only the heartbreak of losing her life partner but also the overwhelming financial burden that comes with it.

My dad was one of the hardest working men you could ever meet — the kind of person who never complained, even when life got tough. He carried himself with quiet strength and a smile that could light up any room, even if he didn’t say much. He was always the first to lend a hand to someone in need, whether it was family, friends, or a complete stranger. More than anything, he loved being a dad and grandpa. There was rarely a moment when he didn’t have a grandbaby in his arms or a proud grin on his face while talking about his family. His absence has left a space in our hearts that can never be filled.

My parents have always been hardworking people — doing everything they could to make ends meet. But with funeral and memorial expenses, along with everyday bills and living costs, my mom is now in a situation that no one can prepare for — trying to grieve while figuring out how to stay afloat.
