On January 4 at 2:30 AM in the morning we were driving and saw a dog running across the street near a gas station in the rain. We called her over and she was whining and immediately sat down to be pet. And wanted to get in the car. She had huge nipples filled with milk and we thought she was pregnant or just gave birth. We looked around for her puppies, but there was none we ended up taking her to nearby emergency vet who briefly looked at her free of charge thank God and said she is showing signs of an infection called pyometra a life-threatening infection that can happen to dogs after they give birth. We took her back home. I ended up calling the vet back and asked how much something like that would be and if it would be antibiotics or something like surgery, the vet said the antibiotics will temporarily help but does not completely remove the infection and they would have to remove her uterus. It is an emergency surgery that could cost anywhere from $8000 depending on her size. I also don’t know what other possible infection she could have from being a stray or what medication’s or medical she will need after surgery. I would like to save her, but don’t have the money right now. I’m sure they will need to do all types of blood tests and ultrasounds to find out if she definitely has the infection or not so whether she needs surgery or not all of the GoFundMe donations will go towards her vet bills and other necessities for her.
