Steven Joel Novak passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day at the age of 58, leaving behind a heartbroken family and a deeply saddened community of friends who have known him for decades. Because Steve's passing happened so suddenly, and because his oldest son, Nick, is significantly disabled, the financial stress is critical. Steve was devoted to his three children, Nick, Lizzie and Bobby, each of whom loved Steve and were deeply connected to him in ways that are difficult to describe in words. He was very close with his ex-wife Becky, especially around their children, and his mother, Anita, who lost both her husband and her only other child at a young age also.

Steve was a writer, a humanist, a comedian, and a keen observer of the world. He spoke without any judgment, open, loving and curious about the different ways in which all of us lived our lives. Steve touched us in ways that can only be expressed by his skill as a writer. He will be greatly missed by all of us.
