Support for Steve Dagg and his family

Dear friends and family,

With the heaviest of hearts and the deepest sense of hope, we are praying that you can help us defy the odds.

As many of you know, my brother, Steve Dagg (Stephen to me) was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2021. After a gruelling year of chemotherapy and radiation, ending with major surgery (a proctocolectomy); Steve’s scans showed that he was officially cancer free. It worked! That was truly the best, most miraculous news I had ever heard!

Two weeks ago Steve was admitted to hospital with severe stomach pain, where it was thought he had a partial blockage of scar tissue. A few days later, we learned the devastating news. After ALL of that treatment and despite Steve being given the all-clear two months ago some of the cancer was undetected. They didn't get it all. The doctors have shared with Steve and Kim, that it is terminal.

I am heartbroken and am struggling to make sense of this. This CAN'T be happening.

Steve is on heavy narcotics to manage the pain. He is unable to eat; at points, only receives sustenance through an IV and clear fluids. On “good” days, he is able to consume juiced vegetables and puréed soups and puréed blueberries.

Steve will again be receiving chemotherapy. The doctors have shared that the chemo will not rid, nor shrink the cancer…simply slow the very fast progression.

Steve is truly the best person I know. He approaches all of life's challenges through a selfless and caring lens with unmatched strength and courage that I can only hope to aspire to. He is a devoted husband to his soulmate "Kimmy". The most wonderful and supportive son to his father Bernie; and as a father himself to his daughters Frankie and Jolene; he has the most playful and tender soul.

Steve and Kim, Frankie and Jolene, need our love and support more than ever. Having been able to get through the past year with everyone’s generosity, both Kim and Steve were strongly opposed to another fundraiser for them. After many loved ones pleaded with them to allow this to happen and shared how it was a tangible way for everyone to show their love and support that we all so desperately want to surround them with; Kim and Steve agreed to this GoFundMe.

Not only will funds raised, go towards covering their mortgage payments, bills and groceries; it will allow Steve and Kim the freedom to explore healing modalities outside of the conventional cancer treatments in Western Medicine. From practicing nutritional healing - following The Gerson Method, which requires extensive and abundant supplies of organic vegetables and fruits; to purchasing very high-quality supplements. There are also many costly treatments (from acupuncture to ozone therapy to energy healing to homeopathy to herbalism); with that, also see many privately practicing practitioners. Given the dire diagnosis of terminal cancer from Western medicine doctors; Steve and Kim are desperate to explore any and all possible options. It is so important to note, that there ARE people who have rid their bodies of cancer, utilizing these different modalities…actual documented cases. This is where we need to put our focus…our energy…our intentions….right there alongside Steve and Kim. We need to believe there is hope. Hope is, literally, all Steve and Kim have left. Hope is what will make looking into the eyes of their beautiful little girls, a smidgeon less painful and gut-wrenching.

Your love and generosity are so deeply and sincerely appreciated.
